DIY Protein Bars

image1 Who doesn’t love a protein bar? I for one, can go threw a box of Quest Bars in less than a week. My wallet is hurting so I had to start making my own. All of these bars have at least 27g of protein and 24g of fiber! The base bar (before adding flavors) are under 300 calories and roughly 34g carbohydrates. All of these bars include the magic ingredient: VitaFiber Syrup! (same as in a Quest Bar) VitaFiber is a magical syrup that is GMO-free, sugar-free, gluten-free and high in fiber! You can purchase it here http://vitafiber.myshopify.com/ I made three flavors. Each recipe makes one bar.

PEANUT BUTTER PROTEIN BAR

28g Vanilla Protein Powder (I used Jamie Eason Natural Whey Isolate https://labr2da.com/store/wheyisolateforher.html

2 tbsp. VitaFiber Syrup

1 tbsp. Almond Flour

1 tbsp. Powdered Peanut Butter

1 tsp. Stevia

1 tsp. Vanilla Extract

2 tsp. Natural Peanut Butter

1 tbsp. Vanilla Protein Powder

In a small bowl mix together peanut butter and 1 tbsp. protein powder. Separate into 5-7 pieces, roll into ball and set aside. Mix almond flour, protein powder, powdered peanut butter and stevia in a bowl and set aside. In a small pan, on low heat warm the vitafiber and vanilla extract until small bubbles form. Turn off heat and slowly add flour/protein mixture. Mix as well as you can then pour mixture between a folded piece of parchment paper and kneed until mixed entirely. Fold in peanut butter balls. Mold into bar shape (I used two large knives to press and flatten). Store in an air tight container at room temperature.

  1. Aaargh, I have everything except that VitaFiber. Hiya get my hands on some, these look delicious, super easy & way les expensive than Quest bars! Thanks for sharing.

  2. I had finally bought Vitafiber syrup and I cannot for the life of me get the consistency right. (Maybe too hot or ?) I generally use Cellucor protein powder for my bars & bake with Quest protein. . I follow step by step but it doesn’t turn out. Any suggestions?

  3. If anyone here is looking for an alternative to VitaFiber you should check out FiberYum! It is slightly cheaper and corn-free. You can buy it online and they sell tons of other healthy ingredients on their website too. They make both the imo-syrup and imo-powder.

  4. hi, have you calculated the total cost per bar? Just trying to make sure after buying everything that it’s not just as cost effective to buy the Quest bars…thanks!

    • No, I haven’t but good point. I always have protein powder and coconut flour, etc. on hand so all I had to buy was the VitaFiber when I wanted to make these. Hope it’s more cost effective to make them yourself. Good luck! Xo

  5. Has anyone tried to make these vegan or dairy free? If so, what powder/chips or add ins did you use? I love quest bars but I’m trying to give up dairy – any help would be wonderful!

    • I am Vegan and plan of trying this with various Garden of Life proteins as soon as my FiberYUM gets delivered! I’ll let you know how it turns out!! But, I will say the plant-based proteins are WAY better (IMO) for baking so I have high hopes 🙂

  6. Your recipe doesn’t say how many bars it make. would you mind letting me know? thank you. Can you post the link to the video you made?

  7. Hey, there! Do you know how many net carbs are in this? I’m trying to stay under 50 net a day. Are there any sugar alcohols?

  8. any video?
ive tried this many times and have the same problems others are having,
The consistency is not the same as in the picture, it seems like i need to put more (a looootttt more) vitafiber. Right now its just grainy and dry and doesnt in any way mix everything. 😦
